Ans:- 1. Kya Kehna
               Protagonist character is Priya
          2. The  Scarlet letter
               Protagonist character is Hesrer

2.Write their story in brief

The Scarlet letter

The story begins in seventeenth-century Boston, then a Puritan settlement. A young woman, Hester Prynne, is led from the town prison with her infant daughter, Pearl, in her arms and the scarlet letter “A” on her breast. A man in the crowd tells an elderly onlooker that Hester is being punished for adultery.

Kya Kehna

The story is about Priya Bakshi (Preity Zinta), the daughter of Gulshan (Anupam Kher) and Rohini Bakshi (Farida Jalal). Priya has her parents, brothers and best friend, Ajay (Chandrachur Singh) who all love and support her. She enters her first year in college and catches the eye of Rahul (Saif Ali Khan) who quickly becomes attracted to her. She succumbs to his charm but her brothers and parents are not sure about Rahul. His womanizing nature worries them and they tell her to stay away from him. However, Priya is unable to leave Rahul. She convinces her parents to meet him but when they talk about marriage he backs off and he leaves Priya. Priya is devastated but moves on with her life. In one sweep she learns that she is pregnant with Rahul's child. Her parents go to Rahul to talk about marriage but to their shock he refuses to marry her. Priya is faced with a decision, and she chooses to keep the child. Her decision prompts her father to chuck her out the house. Alone and neglected Priya is devastated, but her parents and brothers find it hard to live without her and they bring her home. She now has to face society and try to overcome the disdain of her neighbors, among others. Society virtually ostracizes her and her family. She eventually gains the support of those who had earlier disrespected her. At the same time she manages to change Rahul's views as well and he decides to marry her. However, Priya has already given her heart to Ajay and they get married.
3. What is  the role played by society in Hester's life?

In this movie Hester's  life like barran. She hasn't her identity without husband and she fight alone then she done adultery at that that time society ask questions which answer Hester could not able to give punished her. Even society believe one person unknowingly death reason Hester adultery sin and given punishment of hunging then Dimmesdale conferences he is Pear's father. After society release he. And again she lived alone.

4.What is the role played by society in Priya's life?

Priya is student and she loves Rahul and shebecame pregnant. Here conflict between middleclass society and high class society. Rahulbelong to high class family and Priya be belong middle class family so Rahul's family speciallyhis mother didn't accept Priya. After shebecome pregnant without marriage societyhated her, even her parents are not sporting herthen as loving relation with family then herfamily given sport her. In the college functionplayed drama on Priya's life and everyonelaughed her. At that time Priya gives speech andeveryone clapping her courage but if we analysesociety so we can know it is not easy as likePriya convinced society.

5.Compare and contrast the male characters,  Roger Chillingroth,  Arther Dimsedale,  Rahul and Ajay.

In the movie Scarlet letter,  Roger Chillingworth,  Arthur Dimmsedele,  both male character are completely different from each other, Roger is Hester's husband and Arthur Dimmesdale is Hester's lover.  In movie Kya Kehna,  Rahul couldn't able to accept Priya in bublically.  Ajay character is like honest and kind person who deeply loved Priya,  even she was pregnant of Rahul's child although Ajay ready to accept her.

6. Compare and contrast The Scaffold scene in The Scarlet letter and a year -end performance in Kya Kehna in which a group of students performance a play on Priya and her pregnancy.

In Kya Kehna end of movie in the stage Priya tried to justify herself that she had not done wrong decide to giving birth of child.

7.What are the reasons that Arthur Dimmesdaleand Rahul do not come forward to accept theirfatherhood? How do you they differ and whatare the similarities?

Arthur Dimmesdale is priest that's why he maybe afraid to the society,  how society react after society knowing his realty. Rahul belongs to high class family that's why maybe he also afraid of society.

8.What is the role played by Chillingworth in Hester's life? Why do you think he wanted totake revenge on Hester and Dimmesdale?Chillingworth is husband of Hester.

Chillingworth played enemy role in Hester's life. And he wanted to take revenge on Hester and Dimmesdale.

9.What is the role played by Rahul's mother in Priya's life? Why do you think she wants to take revenge on Priya?

Rahul's mother didn't accept Priya as daughter in law, because they belongs to high class family.

10. Write a note on class difference in Kya Kehna.

In this movie two class conflict middle class family and high class family. Here we can see that Priya belongs to middle class family and Rahul belongs to high class family. So that Rahul's mother don't accept Priya as a daughter in law.

11. Why do you think the director has lifted the character of Ajay to the ideal state? Is it possible in real life? What are the reasons of your YES or NO?

According to my point of view it maybe possible. It's depends on human understanding.

12.How do you see Hester and Priya as
individuals?

The character of Priya,  she stronger than Hester because at the end of movie,  Priya herself tried to convince society she had not done wrong.

13. Write a critical note on the end of the movie and the novel. Why do you think the novelist has not given happy ending?

In the movie Kya Kehna,  we can see that the end of the movie Priya get marry with Ajay and he also accept her child. So the end of this movie we can see happy ending.
